Bevans of Longton re-opened at lunchtime on Saturday 14 July, with cake, music, friends, family and customers! A great day, ex-proprietor Ellis Bevan and new proprietor Tom Mitchell (and son Peter) welcoming customers both new and old and celebrating the shop’s new lease of life.
Great new arrivals on vinyl and CD, to add to previous stock, including rock and pop, blues, jazz, soul, funk, spoken word and some oddities that we’re not sure where to file. Instruments, accessories, memorabilia and local interest on its way over the next couple of weeks.
So now we’re up and running, come down and have a browse and a chat. We are open Mon-Wed 11am-5pm and Fri-Sat 11am-5pm. We’re buying as well as selling, and we’re especially interested in American and British Jazz, Punk, New Wave, Mod Revival, Metal, Prog and Psychedelic Rock, British and American Folk, Beatles, Stones, Kinks, Move, Faces etc, Ska and Reggae, 90s and 00s Indie.
We’re also keen to hear your stories of music in the Potteries since 1965. If you grew up in Longton in the 1970s and 80s, chances are your music, both albums and instruments, came from Bevans. Come and share your memories…
